Countdown to 100: Women Leaders Talk Across Generations

Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from noon-2 pm,  Santa Barbara Central Library, Faulkner Gallery (40 E. Anapamu St.)

Looking forward to the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, finally giving women the right to vote, the forum will honor Joy Picus, who was elected to the Los Angeles City Council in 1973. Joy has inspired many women to run for public office and will be joined by local women leaders Susan Rose, one of the first women to serve on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, Janet Wolf, former Santa Barbara County Supervisor, Luz Reyes-Martin, Goleta Union School District Board Member and President of the Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee, Kristen Sneddon, Santa Barbara City Council Member, Gloria Soto, youngest member ever elected to the Santa Maria City Council. The discussion will be moderated by Beth Pitton-August, who will also show a clip from her documentary “Just the Beginning: A Century of Women’s Political Power”
