Join the Young Feminists of SBWPC (Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee) in preparation for the March for Science!
The Santa Barbara March for Science, a sister march to the Washington DC March for Science, is on Earth Day. Please join us the evening before (Earth Day Eve) to create your sign, play some trivia, and celebrate all that science and scientists have accomplished for us.
We will have a sign-making station with materials for you to use, but feel free to also bring your own. We are proud to partner with WISE (UCSB Women in Science and Engineering)! Thanks to their support, we are able to provide light food and refreshments.
Hope to see you there!
But “what does this have to do with feminism?” you ask…
The March for Science is a public demonstration supporting science, scientists, and evidence-based policymaking—areas that are very much threatened in our current political climate. Budget cuts, censorship of researchers, disappearing datasets, and threats to dismantle government agencies harm us all, putting our health, food, air, water, climate, and jobs at risk. These threats pose even greater risk to the least priveleged groups in our society. SBWPC is a non-partisan political action committee, committed to fighting against inequality wherever it appears.
