The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee is deeply saddened by the passing of one of our founding mothers, Naomi Schwartz.
Not only did Naomi have a profound positive impact on our local community, but she was a true champion of women’s rights statewide. She was a vital member of the Women’s Political Committee and in 2005 was an Honoree of the SBWPC Roses Award for her outstanding leadership and dedication to feminist values and in 2006 she was named a Legend Honoree.
As Chair of the California Coastal Commission she was a fierce protector of the environment. Naomi’s political activism continued with her work as Chief of Staff for State Senator Gary Hart and later as Santa Barbara County’s First District Supervisor. Naomi was a true public servant and also worked graciously across the aisle to accomplish what was best for Santa Barbara. With your help, SBWPC will continue to work together to continue the legacy of our friend and respected community member Naomi Schwartz.
