The Women’s Campaign Fund would like to congratulate all of our endorsed candidates who won their races! 10 out of 15 WCF-endorsed women who were up for election emerged victorious.
The success of these strong, pro-choice women leaders must be a constant reminder to us that our goals are reachable—but only by standing together can we achieve them. WCF is proud to have supported these incredible women from the beginning of their campaigns, when that support was needed most, and we will be there to support them as they continue their political careers.
WCF would also like to recognize our endorsed candidates who ran challenging and difficult races, yet came up short. To Robin Abbott, Pamela Danner, Rogette Harris, Melina Kennedy, and Brenda Sperduti, you had the courage and dedication to stand up for what you believe in, and we hope that your perseverance in pursuing these ends leads you to run again in the future. WCF is proud to have supported you throughout your race and will be proud to support you when you run again!
We encourage you to take a moment to thank all of these phenomenal women who ran this year for having the courage and dedication to make a difference in our country and allowing our voices to be heard.
It is imperative that we keep this momentum headed into 2012 elections. With your support, WCF will continue to recruit, empower, and endorse women candidates who support reproductive choices and options for all.
In solidarity,
Erin Loos Cutraro
Political Director
PS: WCF is also happy to announce that Mississippi’s Proposition 26, also known as the “Personhood Amendment,” was rejected by voters by a margin of 58% to 42%. In 2012, voters in Mississippi will have the opportunity to send their first woman (Heather McTeer, a WCF-endorsee!) to Congress.
