Women in the Military

Secretary Hegseth has repeatedly stated that women do not belong in combat. In a September 2025 address to senior military commanders, he called for all combat roles to return to the "highest male standard" — adding, "if that means no women qualify for some combat jobs, so be it." He has also ordered a six-month review of women in combat roles, raising serious concerns about whether qualified servicewomen will be pushed out of positions they have earned.

H.R.7296 (Roy) SAVE America Act - OPPOSE

The Santa Barbara Women’s Political Committee strongly opposes the recently introduced H.R.7396. This bill is yet another attempt by Republicans in the 119th Congress to require onerous documentary proof of US citizenship to vote in federal elections.

HR 7300 (Steil) Make Elections Great Again Act- OPPOSE

This bill amends the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. The problem the bill purports to address does not exist. Fraud in elections is insignificant across the United States and is predominantly an individual voter issue with instances that are few and far between. SBWPC concludes that the intent of this act is to suppress voting by those voters who are less well informed, poor, marginalized, or a combination of those factors.

The organization maintains that the legislation wrongly overrides local community rights and devalues educators.
