October 2024

Greetings SBWPC,

We are less than 3 weeks away from the most important election in our lifetime. It’s hard to fathom what a return to a Trump presidency would do to our country. We now know how disastrous that would be to women and our rights. The feeling of hope we experienced when Vice President Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee for President must be maintained as we enter the final stretch of the campaign. More importantly, we must examine whether we are doing everything we possibly can to ensure a Harris/Walz victory. The SBWPC and other feminist organizations are donating money, writing postcards, and even traveling to other states to campaign for Harris and other feminist candidates.

I was so moved when recently, Caroline Guiliani, the daughter of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, parted with her father and endorsed Kamala Harris. In a Vanity Fair article, she wrote “From reproductive rights and the economy to foreign and environmental policy, we need experienced, sane, and fundamentally decent leaders who will fight for us instead of against us—who will safeguard our democracy rather than dismantle it.”

This is no time for complacency. We can only hope that, after November 5th, the results of the Presidential race are very clear so that everyone’s vote counts, and with no possibility of challenging the election results.

Please encourage EVERYONE you know to learn about the progressive women and men who are running for office and supporting women’s rights AND to vote! Read the SBWPC endorsements on our website homepage. As Kamala Harris’ mother told her, “Don’t sit around and complain–do something!”
