This month we celebrated Women’s History, Women Providing Healing Promoting Hope. As I was reflecting on this theme, I was drawn to Vaclav Havel’s description of hope as a state of mind, an ability to work for something because it is good. We hold a deeply held conviction that our core feminist values matter and that, no matter what the circumstances, we will work toward achieving our vision of a society in which every person has equal opportunities, equal rights, equal access, voice and power in all spheres of society.
Promoting hope requires action.
We promote hope by demanding that the Senate confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court. Call your senator to express your support of her candidacy and your outrage at the racist and misogynistic attacks she was subjected to.
We promote hope by helping, however we can, to make sure that our progressive, feminist values prevail in the upcoming midterm election.
We promote hope by electing candidates who support our feminist values. Join us virtually at our Endorsement Meeting, open to all current members, on April 13, 2022, at 5:45 pm, when we will consider candidate endorsements in the upcoming California Primary Election. We welcome your input. Click here for details
We promote hope by finding our place at the table where policies and legislation are shaped. Run for office; seek an appointment on a board or commission. SBWPC is there to help.
Our Fund for a Feminist Future offers scholarships to qualified SBWPC women members to attend training programs where they can acquire the necessary skills to conduct effective political campaigns. Click here for details
Our Candidate Development Committee offers valuable campaign skills and political knowledge programs. They will kick off their 2022 season with a panel discussion about districted elections and what they mean for you as a potential candidate. Some of our favorite elected women who have run in at-large and districted elections will be there to answer your questions. Register Here!
We all make history through our actions individually and collectively. In an uncertain world in turmoil, let’s join hands and show the world the power of hope.
