Lois Capps’ tireless work on behalf of women and children is admirable. She stated recently: “Women are the economic backbone of our families and communities, and we must do all we can to make sure that they are not left behind as our economy grows.” When meeting with our SBWPC Candidate Assessment Team, Lois also discussed her leadership on cleaning up dirty energy, improving the nation’s health care system, passing comprehensive immigration reform, and gaining access to high quality education for all Americans. She advocates strongly for women’s reproductive rights and legislation related to ending violence against women.

In making the finding to re-endorse Mayor Schneider, the Board of the WPC cited her dedication to fiscal responsibility, providing of critical community services to residents, support of the arts and cultural programs and her clear and resounding voice on protecting the environment. The SBWPC Board also cited Mayor Schneider’s participation and leadership on issues of reducing gun violence in our community.
